New Moon: Harness the Energy 💫✨
The new moon is upon us for the next three days. For you moonies I know I don’t have to tell you what this means, but for you, newbies here are some suggestions for the next three days of the new moon energy.
The new moon is the beginning of the moon phases. During the new moon phase (which is generally three days) the moon is not seen in the sky, you will not see the moon until it becomes a waxing crescent in the first quarter. This is a time of complete darkness for the moon, which is the start of the lunar phases.
So what does this mean for you????
This is a great time to reflect on what is important to you. What are your wishes, desires, dreams, passions? How can you make them a reality? Remind yourself what is important to you and make small steps to move toward those desires and dreams.
Hey if you are having a hard time identifying those hopes and dreams- just keep a list of things you love doing. Start with a small list and add to it. It’s not unusual for us to get disconnected from our own happiness if we are always focusing on others.
Say YES!!!!
This is the time to say YES to all new opportunities that the universe offers to you. During the next three days, notice, with the help of the new moon energy and the universe, be aware of all “new” that are offered to you. Maybe a new friendship enters your life. Or start a new project. Have you been thinking of starting something new? Take advantage of that new moon energy and say yes!!!
Be the light in the darkness-
Since the moon will be in darkness for the next three days, I think it's a great time to look at the shadow side of ourselves. All too often, we push our shadow self away. During the new moon cycle, a ritual could be started by accepting and showing compassion to our shadow self. This is a great way to get out of the suffering cycle.
Usually, when we feel a dark emotion (shame, guilt, sadness, etc.) we have a tendency to shun it and not accept and understand the emotion with love and compassion. I’m suggesting to stop running away from the darkness (which we all have and experience) and to start noticing and accepting with understanding. Treat that darkness like a precious friend. The more light you shine on the darkness the more this will give you a greater understanding of yourself and others.
For the next three days, just consider- accepting the part of yourself that you find unworthy, unlovable- forgive yourself and others and just notice your emotions (you are not your emotions) and notice where they live in your body.
During this time, consider just noticing your emotions. That is it- just notice the emotion (this is not you, it is just an emotion). Identify the emotion and then focus on where you feel the emotion in your body and just observe.
Start with a systematic body scan-
Brow
Forehead
Eyes
Nose
Mouth
Jaw
Face
Ears
Throat
Neck
Shoulders
Chest
Diaphragm/ solar plexus
Abdomen
Arms
Hands
Back
Legs
Feet
Next, ask yourself, how does the emotion feel? Heavy? Light? Constricting? Only focus on the emotion, NOT the story, if the story comes up focus on breath, breath always brings you back to the present moment. Or just label the story “thought”- and do keep in mind most thoughts are not true.
I am not suggesting, to let go of the emotion, I am suggesting to shine a light on the emotion. Notice the emotion. Befriend the emotion. Show the emotion of love, kindness, and compassion. Accept the emotion.
A simple mantra that may be helpful can be repeated, I use the following- “May my suffering offer compassion”- I have started to understand that suffering is optional. Maybe that is the whole lesson or purpose in life, just simply, love yourself- in light and darkness.
With love and light, enjoy the darkness of the new moon, and please love and accept all aspects of yourself, you are beautiful just the way you are-
